I decided to release plugin little earlier then I first announced it. Plugin has come a long way, and is almost ready for a stable 1.0.0. There are few very importan thing missing, and in the next few weeks, all that will be done. As you could see in the previous post, GD Star Rating has brand new widget.

Widget support multiple instances, so you can add more than one widget with different ratings into your sidebar. And widget alows you full control of the rendering using templates. This is also a preview of template system that the plugin will use for rating stars block, rating tables and everything else.

Rating Widget

Well, it took a while, but new widget for GD Star Rating is almost done. New version of plugin will be available in the next 3 or 4 days. For now, here is the screenshot of the current widget control panel.

As you can see filter is improved a lot and now you can filter by time range, month or last number of days. Also, rendering is now control by the template, and template elements are also on the widget panel. You can orginize it as table, list or anything else you want using html tags, css classes or styles. Also, you can cut titles to a length you want to fit the content in the space you want without line break.

Also, plugin will have few functions for getting the same content for integration in theme. I hope you like the widget. If you have some suggestions, please add comment or forum post.

This is very importand update. It includes few new things and a lot of changes and fixes. From now on you can set rating text on left or right from the stars as many people asked for. Control panel settings page has been redesigned becasue number of options has grown. You can now set additional CSS classes for rating block and for rating text for posts, comments and reviews separately.

Database reinstallation, upgrade and setup page are fixed. Recalculation of votes is finally done, so you can change number of stars and the plugin will recalculate votes accordingly. I am planning on adding review rating to comments, but there are few problems with that and I hope to solve that soon.

Another minor release is here. I have added french translation (thanx goes to k|torz), and improved serbian translation. Important notice to translators: both spanish and french is updated by me to new POT file, so you can use included PO language files for future changes. As for the plugin, I was working on imporving control panel and backend DB code. Some small errors are also fixed.

I have included IE6 PNG Transparency Fix in this version. It will only affect users of IE6, for all the other browsers code will not even load, so no worries. Since page can have many, many images it can take few seconds for script to ‘fix’ all PNG images after page loads, but there is no other way.

I will be very busy with my real work for the next 2-3 weeks and will have very little time for this plugin, but you can expect 0.9.5 version in that period. This version will have improved widget and added voting trend for display in tables and widget. Also, I will finish voters log in control panel and will add better control of rating stars and text display.

Well, I got tired of problems with displaying stars with different themes. List are elegant solution, but CSS was to complicated. So, now I have came up with simpler solution, and as far as I can tell it works with very browser and with every theme I have tried (some 40 of them just to be sure). I guess that there could be problems still, so feel free to report that if you see it.

Also, we have first translations available. I have started work on serbian translation (not complited yet) and thanx to Ángel Guzmán Maeso we have spanish translation.

This release also fixes problem with bad links in ratings table.
